Are you finally ready to plan your dream seaside getaway? If the past year's backyard adventures weren't enough excitement for your family, it's time for a vacation away from your home. Before you book a place to stay, take a look at the questions to ask about oceanfront hotel suites.
What Types of Suites Are Available?
Not all suites are the same. While suites typically have more space than a standard hotel room, some have additional areas or a larger layout. If your beach vacation includes your kids, a sitter, grandparents, aunts and uncles, or friends, a junior or basic suite may not have enough room for everyone to fit comfortably. Larger families with children or groups will need multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, plus a shared living room space.
Ask the hotel's manager or staff member what types of suites are available to book and what each option includes. Some hotels and resorts categorize suits by the room number, while others may use names such as presidential or luxury.
Does the Suite Face the Beach?
A "seaside suite" may or may not give you a view of the water. Some hotels are located on the beach and have rooms that face either the ocean or the area on the opposite side of the building. Make sure the suite you want looks out over the beach and isn't a street-facing room in an oceanfront hotel. To confirm the view you'll pay for, ask if the room is an oceanfront suite—and not a suite in an oceanfront hotel.
What Amenities Does the Hotel Have?
Even though your suite may have almost everything you need, it's not likely your family will want to stay in the room for the entire vacation. You had enough time in an enclosed space with your nearest and dearest during quarantine. Now you're ready to venture out and enjoy everything an oceanfront hotel has to offer.
Aside from the ocean, ask what else the hotel has to offer its guests. Amenities could include an on-site gym, indoor or outdoor pools, cabanas, kids' play areas, restaurants, bar areas, or a spa/salon.
How Easily Can You Access the Beach?
You don't want to tote your tot through the lobby or traipse through what seems like a maze just to eventually get to the beach. If ease of ocean-side access is important to you, ask about the hotel's exit options. Some hotels have suites with direct beach access or separate beach entries/exits, while others require you to use the main lobby door.
